Video of Texas woman Claudia Melgar driving to her death in flood waters released as warning
Harris County authorities released a shocking video waing of the dangers of driving in floodwaters after they claimed the life of a young woman.
Claudia Melgar, 25, was driving her white SUV on Monday and ignored a road sign waing of the danger.
She drove around a tow truck blocking the road after heavy rains flooded the area.
The video shows Claudia coming to a stop in the deepest part of the floodwaters.
A short time later a flashlight, or possibly the light from a mobile phone, can be seen shining through the rear window.
But then the car starts to nose dive, and all of a sudden the entire car is submerged.
The incident happened at around 6am, with investigators estimating the flood water was at least 17ft deep.
Claudia is one of eight people that have died due to the 'unprecedented" floods.
She had texted her mother early Monday moing to say she was on her way home and asked her if she needed anything.
Claudia Melgar's body was found the next day when the water was cleared from the road
"That was the last we heard from her," Melgar's cousin Linda Rodriguez said.
Her body was discovered on Tuesday when water had been pumped from the road.
