Two-year-old girl who was 'staggering around and kissing everything' was drunk

When a two-year-old girl started staggering around and kissing everything at a restaurant her parents were worried.

What Derek and Tiffany Gilliam didn’t know was that their daughter Gabriela was drunk.

Instead of the cranberry juice her parents had ordered, the girl was accidentally given a glass of sangria.

The alcoholic cocktail was delivered to the family’s table by their waitress while they dined at the Texas Roadhouse, in Asheville, North Carolina.

After Gabriela complained that it tasted funny, the drink was taken away.

‘She was staggering and she was kissing everything,’ Tiffany told news station WLOS.

She added: ‘I was scared that she might not wake up. That she’d choke on her throw-up and not wake up. It was the most horrible feeling ever.’

After taking Gabriela to hospital it emerged she had consumed alcohol.

The restaurant admitted the waitress had taken the wrong drink to the table and has apologised to the family.

The family had been celebrating Mr Gilliam’s 25th birthday.
