Two men John E. Jackson, Jonathan L. Kerr killed on separate Akron motorcycle crashes
AKRON, Ohio - Two men were killed after separate motorcycle crashes in Akron over the weekend.
John E. Jackson, Jr., 40, of Akron, and Jonathan L. Kerr, 26, of New Philadelphia, were killed in accidents in Akron.
Jackson died after an after a crash Friday at 9 p.m. on Romig Road. According to police, Jackson was driving northbound on Romig road when his motorcycle struck a minivan that was tuing left in front of him.
The motorcycle struck the back of the van, and Jackson was thrown from the vehicle, police said. He was transported to Akron General Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
Jackson was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and the 19-year-old driver of the other car was not injured, police said.
Kerr died after a crash at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 76, near the South Arlington Street exit.
Police said he was traveling westbound when he failed to negotiate a curve, drove onto the right shoulder, hit a concrete barrier and was thrown from the motorcycle. He fell over 20 feet to the grass shoulder along the exit ramp to South Arlington Street, police said.
He was transported to Akron City Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Kerr was wearing a helmet at the time, and police said alcohol appears to be a factor in the accident.
