Timothy Englehardt's suicide now deemed suspicious. Police investigate aspiring TV meteorologist shooting death
POLICE say they are investigating claims a college student took his own life by shooting himself in the head in Florida.
Initial reports indicated that Timothy Englehardt, 22, allegedly committed suicide while hanging out with friends in September, but police say the death is now thought to be suspicious.
While police do not have a person of interest, the investigation uncovered inconsistencies such as the location of the gun in relation to Engelhardt’s body.
“The incident took place in the front porch area of the home. They located the gun inside the house. It had been moved into the house, and that’s where the officers located the gun once they arrived on scene.” Holly Hill Police Chief Steven Aldrich said.
There are also questions in to the 911 call placed at the scene by friends, which police are still examining and will not comment on.
“My friend shot himself, we think he’s dead” the female caller can be heard saying.
Someone in the background can be heard saying what sounds like, “I did it.”
The caller remains firm: “No, you didn’t. Relax. You didn’t kill him.”
She then goes on to say how they tried to talk him through the stresses that Englehardt had.

The question comes as his parents, Bill and Therese Englehardt say their son had no reason to commit suicide and had so much to live for.
Englehardt was an honour roll student at a University in Florida and had just completed a summer inteship with a top news station near his home in Boston, presenting the weather forecast, a career his parents say he was very close to reaching.
