TGI Friday’s mistletoe drone ‘crashes into woman’s face and cuts it open’
A mistletoe-carrying drone being flown around a branch of TGI Friday’s crashed into a woman’s face and cut open her nose and chin, she said.
The drones are fitted with mistletoe and an attached camera nicknamed ‘kiss cam’. A photojoualist in New York said she had her nose cut open when one of the gadgets was flown around at an event in one of the city’s restaurants.
‘I’ve done some crime scene reporting. I survived 9/11. I didn’t get a scratch on any of those assignments. This is bizarre to go into a restaurant and come out injured,’ Georgine Benevenuto told Brooklyn Daily.
‘It was like I couldn’t get it off because I guess the mistletoe part had fishing wire on it — that’s how it was attached — and it got caught in my hair and it kept twirling and twirling and twirling while this thing is on my nose.
‘That’s how it ended up cutting me under the chin, I think it had four blades.’
According to NYMag, the drone’s operator was trying to show a reporter that he could land the drone on the Ms Benevenuto’s head.
Drones designed for indoor use are supposed to have guards covering the blades but TGI Friday’s two-foot-wide drones don’t.
TGI Friday’s didn’t acknowledge the injuries, say reports, and ‘dismissed conces about further injuries’.
