Texas Man Richard Mendoza Charged In Missing Teen's Death
FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas -- A man has been charged in the suspected death of a teenager who has been missing since 2002.
Richard Mendoza, 26, has been charged with murder.
Christopher Allen Daigle disappeared in 2002. He was 17 at that time.
Fort Bend County sheriff's deputies said they and Missouri City police searched a rural area along F.M. 521 between Arcola an Juliff Wednesday through Friday.
Deputies said they believe Daigle was shot to death in the area, and his body was left there.
Investigators collected bones, which were studied by an anthropologist at Sam Houston State University. Two of the bones were determined to be human, officials said.
The bones have not yet been identified, but DNA testing is underway, detectives said.
Mendoza is being held in the Fort Bend County Jail with bond set at $250,000.
