Terrifying moment girl is dragged along by school bus

Video footage has captured the moment that a primary school-aged girl was dragged along by her bus as she got off.

She was dragged at least 100ft by the bus when her backpack got stuck in the door after leaving Wilkerson Elementary School.

The girl’s ordeal only came to an end when a car following behind noticed what was happening so flagged the car down.

Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said the girl was taken to Kosair Children’s Hospital to be treated for grazing.

Neighbor Esther Karschner told wave3.com: ‘She was talking and, at the end, she wanted to see her mommy. I am thankful, very thankful [that she wasn’t more badly hurt].’

Tom Carman, who caught the incident on camera, said: ‘I just couldn’t believe he [dragged] her from the coer down to here without knowing. I couldn’t believe it – bouncing all the way down the street. It was bad.’

Jefferson County Public Schools have launched an investigation into the incident.
