Student posts before and after shots of photoshopped yearbook pics
Before and after: The student, believed to be from St Teresa's Aacademy in Kansas City, Missouri, was furious when she saw the image that would be put in her yearbook was touched up without her permission

STUDENTS at an all-girls private school were outraged after discovering pictures on their photo ID cards had been heavily retouched to make them look prettier.

One senior at St Teresa’s Academy in Kansas City, Missouri, posted the results of the unauthorised makeover on Reddit, claiming it looked like her “prettier twin sister”.

The girl, who didn’t give her name, listed the changes she claimed had been made to the photo, which she said was going to be used in the school year book. They included face smoothing, skin colouring, lip recolouring, eyebrow smoothing and reshaping and face thinning.

She wrote: I was outraged! I have a round face that I have grown to love and now I get my photo back with a different face.”

She went on: “Going to an all girls school we are constantly reminded about positive body image and accepting ourselves for who we are. Having these changes made to make me appear thinner makes me wonder how must our school practices(sic) what they preach.”

The student later posted an update saying edits were made by a photo company the school used and were done without the school’s permission.

St. Teresa’s President Nan Tiehen Bone later confirmed this to Kansas City Star, saying it was an admitted mistake on the part of the company, DeCloud Studios.

“My face was slimmer. My cheeks were slimmer. My neck was slimmer. … I didn’t have any freckles on my nose,” said senior Lily O’Neill, 17, a member of the school’s yearbook staff.
