Skateboarder Nicholas Silva-Thomas killed in hit-and-run in Taunton
TAUNTON - Authorities say a teenager was killed in on a busy road in Taunton while riding his skateboard Thursday night, apparently by a hit-and-run driver.
Investigators think 17-year-old Nicholas Silva-Thomas of Taunton was skateboarding with a group of friends along a dark portion of Bay Street near Watson Pond just before 10 p.m. when he was struck.
The driver then left the area.
The victim was taken to Morton Hospital in Taunton where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities are searching for the vehicle that struck him and are asking witnesses to come forward.
