Sandra Bland: The jail ‘suicide’ that has rocked Texas
A huge question mark hangs over the death of Sandra Bland.
The Texan was pulled over in Waller County on Friday for allegedly improperly signaling during a lane change then assaulting a police officer.
The 28-year-old was ‘found dead’ in her cell on Monday moing, Waller County Sheriff’s Office said.
In a statement the force describes how she was ‘not breathing from what appears to be self-inflicted asphyxiation’.
She was arrested on Friday and ‘found dead’ on Monday
The report goes on to explain how the officer who found her started CPR but she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Her cause of death has been ruled as suicide by hanging.
However, her friends and family have refuted this entirely.
Friend LaNitra Dean, told ABC 7 Sandra had just landed her dream job and described her as ‘strong mentally and spiritually’.
