Police take down sex offender Charles Diorio in standoff
BRAINTREE - Police in Braintree took down a registered sex offender wanted in to states after a standoff on Sunday moing.
Charles Diorio, 49, of Chelsea, faces charges including kidnapping after allegedly taking a gun from a woman and forcing her to stay inside her apartment for several hours.
The woman, who is a legal gun owner, was somehow able to escape unharmed and tell Braintree police that the man who held her against her will was still holed up in her home with her gun.
Police say Diorio is wanted in connection with an armed assault in Chelsea, has a warrant for his arrest in New York and is currently considered a fugitive in Califoia, where he is a registered sex offender wanted for a parole violation.
