Police arrest Paul Baran in hit-and-run of 17-year-old
TAUNTON - Authorities say they have arrested a suspect in a hit-and-run that killed a 17-year-old skateboarder in Taunton.
Paul Baran was arrested Sunday and faces a charge of leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in a death. Police say they developed information Saturday night that led them to the vehicle and Baran. They did not elaborate.
Police say the 55-year-old Baran was located at his home in Taunton Saturday night and went with investigators to the police department for questioning.
Nicholas Silva-Thomas and some friends were riding their skateboards at a park Thursday night when they decided to go for pizza. On the way, Silva-Thomas was struck by a car.
Baran is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Taunton District Court. He is not yet represented by a lawyer.
