Police: Alcohol, Speed May Be To Blame For Fatal Crash
CINCINNATI -- Alcohol and speed may be to blame for a crash that killed one person early Thursday moing, police said.
The crash occurred shortly after midnight on Interstate 75 in Camp Washington.
Police said Nicholas Taylor, 38, lost control of his 1999 Jeep Cherokee and struck a 1996 Dodge Ram pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup truck, Glen Delk, 46, was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Kathy Delk, 32, was also in the pickup truck. She was taken to University Hospital, treated for minor injuries and released.
Crash Scene
Neither of the Delks was wearing a seat belt. Taylor was wearing a seat belt and only suffered minor injuries.
Police said alcohol and speed appeared to be factors in the crash, but didn't specify who they thought had been drinking.
The Cincinnati Police Department's Traffic Unit is investigating the crash. Anyone who might have witnessed the crash was asked to call 513-352-2514.
The crash caused northbound Interstate 75 to be closed for several hours. The highway reopened at 5:45 a.m.
