Pennsylvania Republican Candidate Tom Corbett Photoshops Himself With Black Woman

A goveor is facing criticism for faking a campaign picture of himself standing next to a black woman.

Pennsylvania Republican Tom Corbett's campaign confirmed the image had been fabricated.

A Buzzfeed investigation found the same picture of the woman on a stock image website.

The photo appears identical to one on Shutterstock, entitled Financial Advisor Talking To Senior Couple At Home.

The image appears at the footer of Gov Corbett's website

The image appears to have been reversed and placed beside Gov Corbett in the photo on the footer of his website.

His campaign told BuzzFeed that other people in the image had also come from stock photos.

But the black woman appears at the candidate's shoulder and she is the only one whose face is fully visible.

Goveor Corbett is already facing an uphill battle for re-election, trailing Democratic challenger Tom Wolf by 15 points.

It is not the first time the Republican's attempts to court ethnic-minority voters have gone awry.

Last year he was asked by a Spanish-language newspaper whether he had any Latino members in his cabinet.

He replied: "No, we do not have any staff members in there. If you can find us one, please let me know."
