Oklahoma Parents ‘killed daughter’s boyfriend’ after argument

A 19-YEAR-OLD has tued in her police officer parents who she says shot her boyfriend dead and fired shots at her as well, saying she hopes they “rot in prison for a very long time”.

Police say Shannon Kepler confronted his daughter’s boyfriend, 19-year-old Jeremey Lake, who was walking with Kepler’s daughter, Lisa Kepler, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Mr Kepler and Lake argued before Mr Kepler fired at both Lake and his daughter approximately three times each.

Lake was shot dead while Lisa Kepler was uninjured.

She says her parents, who have been on the police force about 24 years, kicked her out of home a week ago and she went and stayed at the Tulsa Day Centre for the Homeless, where she had met Lake and they began dating. Lake had offered her a place to live.

“I don’t know what could have led them to do this,” she said. “They didn’t even know Jeremy.”

Shannon Kepler, 54, has been arrested on first-degree murder and his wife Gina Kepler, 48, has been arrested for accessory to murder after the fact.

“I really hope they rot in prison for a very long time,” Lisa Kepler told Tulsa World .

Police says Gina Kepler said her and her husband would surrender to police, leaving the gun in the trunk of her car; however, investigators have been unable to locate the car and the weapon.

The police said the Keplers are being uncooperative with the search.

Tulsa police chief Chuck Jordan said he was “saddened for both families involved in this tragic event.”

“The circumstances around this incident drives home the fact that domestic violence is a societal problem and transcends all economic groups,” he said.

The couple has been held without bail pending the filing of formal charges.
