A mother is under arrest after allegedly abandoning her two young daughters on a sidewalk Sunday.

According to the New York Daily News, the two little girls - ages 3 and 5 - were wandering the Brooklyn street where they were left, bundled up and carrying spare diapers around 3 p.m. Sunday. The older girl told a Daily News photographer that their mother had just dropped them off then driven away.

Area residents called 911 and the little girls were able to tell police their mother's first name, the color of the car she drove and that they "live in a house with blue flowers out front," reports the Daily News.

The information led police to the girls' mother, 26-year-old Dalisha Adams. Adams was arrested and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Daily News.

The girls did not appear to be injured but were taken to a local hospital for observation, and are temporarily in the custody of the Administration for Children's Services.

These two children, who identified themselves as Domini, 5, and her younger sister (in pink) Dioni, 3, said their mom Dalisha, dropped them out of their white car at the coer of East 102nd Street and Shore Parkway in Canarsie, Brooklyn, and dumped them in the winter cold with nothing but two diapers each in their hands. Police Officers Bily Morales and his partner Ed Centeno made sure they were safe after taking them from two elderly woman who found them standing by themselves near the Bayview Housing Projects.
