New York man Cory Terry, 33, drops dead after 'drinking Red Bull
A WHOPPING $85 million wrongful death lawsuit claims that the popular energy drink Red Bull is to blame for a 33-year-old father's death.
It's alleged Cory Terry died in 2011 after drinking a can of Red Bull. He had a 13-year-old son.
Mr Terry is reported to have consumed the drink while playing basketball, before collapsing and dying of a heart attack.
The Brooklyn man's family has now launched the world's first wrongful death lawsuit against Red Bull, NY Daily News reports.
The family's lawyer Ilya Novofastovsky will claim Red Bull contains "extra stimulants that make it different than a cup of coffee".
"They are more dangerous than what Red Bull lets on," he added.
Red Bull's ingredients include: caffeine, taurine, glucuronolactone, B-group vitamins, sucrose, glucose.
Mr Terry's grandmother Patricia said he was a regular consumer of the energy drink.
"He drank that stuff all the time. He said it perked him up," she said, according to NY Daily News.
"I know he was healthy and I couldn't find no other reason for why he died."
The lawsuit was to be filed today.
