The fight against Four Loko is about to get considerably more heated now that the drink allegedly has been linked to the death of a 13-year-old Maryland boy, Michael Thomas Truluck. Four Loko, which is 12 percent alcohol, has long been under fire from universities and state govements for what they've regarded as youth-oriented marketing.

Controversy: Banned alcoholic energy drink Four Loko was converted into ethanol for car fuel after the FDA ruled it 'unsafe', and makers removed caffeine

Truluck had been reportedly drinking Four Loko that had been purchased by an adult. After getting ill, Trulock fell from the car he was riding in with friends and was struck by another car.

"I think he felt so sick that he was not thinking about anything," his mother, Kristina Keys, told the Baltimore Sun. She blames the drink; representatives from Four Loko have said they provide adequate waings regarding the product's alcohol content.
