Minnesota wife Jennifer Nibbe makes teary confession to killing husband with shotgun: cops
A Minnesota mom charged with murdering her husband with a single shotgun blast has a few.
“Once it happened, I thought, ‘Oh my God, what did I do?’” Jennifer Nibbe told police during a Sept. 11, 2010, interview — 11 days after the slaying of her husband James.
Although Nibbe initially blamed the slaying on a burglar, she expressed remorse about the death in statements ruled admissible at her trial. The videotaped interview was made public this week.
“I took somebody’s son and I killed somebody’s brother, grandson and uncle,” sais Nibbe. “He was a good person.”
At another point, the accused killer tells two law enforcement agents, “I don’t know how I’m going to live with this the rest of my life. I don’t know.”
The contents of the tape were reported on Minnesota television.
Nibbe acknowledges that she tried to make the crime scene look like an intruder first tried to hurt her before fatally blasting her husband.
But detectives quickly focused on inconsistencies in her story, and she was arrested for the Aug. 31, 2010 slaying.
“It was horrible, it was horrible,” she declared at one point. “... I know Jim is in heaven.”
