St. Charles County (KSDK) - A man who was pretending to be a police officer for the last 18 years to meet women was arrested Wednesday.

Authorities say 32-year-old Michael Gordon was charged Wednesday with two misdemeanor counts of false impersonation of a law enforcement officer.

Officers with the St. Charles County Drug Task Force were investigating an alleged drug house on August 9 when a man at the home said he knew "Deputy Mike Gordon". The man then called Gordon on his cell phone.

Officers were suspicious and asked to speak to Gordon, who told them he was an officer with the Pine Lawn Police Department. Police quickly leaed he was never an officer.

Authorities searched Gordon's home and found a loaded Glock, numerous badges, a full duty belt with holster, a gear bag, handcuffs, a flashlight, pepper spray, a Missouri statutes book, a safety vest, belt keepers, leg irons, and police literature.

Gordon told them he had been pretending to be an officer since he participated in the Police Explorer program 18 years ago. He said he couldn't become a real officer because he has a reading disability.

He also admitted he had been telling women he was an officer to gain their trust at bars he frequented in St. Charles County and Jefferson County. He said on several occasions he brought the women to hotel rooms and had "consensual" sex with them, even utilizing his police equipment, such as handcuffs, during the encounters.

Gordon worked as a handy man, and may have told clients he was a police officer as well.

The two misdemeanor charges stem from an incident in July when Gordon impersonated an officer to get a woman's information, and for allegedly showing handcuffs on August 5 and telling a man he was under arrest.

Investigators want to speak to anyone who may have been told Gordon was a police officer over the years. Victims should call The St. Charles County Detective Bureau at 636-949-3020.
