An Ohio man was dropping off his daughter at the home of his ex-wife when he got into a scuffle with her boyfriend and ended up accidentally shooting his current spouse, who videotaped the violent confrontation.

The Geauga County Sheriff's Office released this week the footage shot by the victim of the shooting, which took place in Chardon Township August 25.

According to investigators, Tony Molchak was dropping off his daughter at the home of his ex-wife, Diane, when he got into a shouting match with her boyfriend, Gary Schussler.

Molchak’s current wife, Shelley, was standing on the front lawn at the time with her cell phone camera trained on the two brawling men, according to the station KFOR.

Her minute-and-a-half long clip shows Mr Molchak pointing in the direction of his wife and then taking a swing at Schussler.

Molchak gets a few punches in before his opponent pulls a gun from his red shorts, sending the man fleeing for his life.

Schussler is then seen closing in on Shelley Molchak, and kicking her and her phone.

Mr Molchak and his rival then began hitting one another, and at one point during the altercation Schussler dropped his cocked and loaded gun.

Molchak seized the opportunity and snatched the weapon with the cry: 'I got the gun now!’

That is when police say the man accidentally discharged the weapon, shooting his wife Shelley in the back.

The woman was airlifted to MetroHealth Medical Center suffering from a collapsed lung.

Schussler has been charged with assault and possession of a weapon while intoxicated.
Moclhak, who works as a global finance manager at Newport Tank Containers, has been charged with negligent assault.

Schussler's attoey, Michael Peterson, insisted that his client had a right to use his gun to protect himself.

Molchak has a special needs daughter with his ex-wife. He married Shelley Farry in 2009, and the two have a young son together.
