Long Island Teacher Charles Williams Accused of Sexually Abusing Student
A middle school teacher is accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl in a classroom, Suffolk County police said Friday.
Charles Williams, an English teacher at J. Taylor Finley Middle School in Huntington, took the girl into a classroom so she could make a phone call on January 26, 2011, police said. Then Williams, 67, had "inappropriate sexual contact" with the girl, police said.
She told another teacher, who notified school administrators and the police, authorities said.
Detectives from the Special Victims Section investigated and arrested Williams at his home in South Huntington.
He was charged with second-degree sexual abuse, processed, and released on bail, police said.
Williams is due in court on March 31.
