Jury finds Christopher Hanney guilty on all counts
Taken down: Christopher Hanney faces a life sentence after being found guilty by a Tampa jury on Thursday of attempted murder, aggravated battery and arson

Christopher Hanney stood stoic in a downtown Tampa courtroom as his fate was read aloud.

A jury of his peers found him guilty of attempted first degree murder.

The jury also found Hanney guilty of first degree arson and aggravated battery after an attack on his estranged wife Audrey Mabrey in November of 2009.

Mabrey felt justice was served Thursday.

"I'm just relieved," she said.

Eight percent of her body is now scarred from the attack. During the trial, both Mabrey and Hanney had different accounts of what happened that fall day in Apollo Beach.

The two were separated, but Mabrey says she stopped by the house, not thinking Hanney was home.

Mabrey said Hanney was home and appeared naked and attempting to sexually assault her.

She says he then doused her with gasoline and then did the unthinkable.

"He tosses the candle at me like he's tossing me the remote," Mabrey said.

When Hanney took the stand, he told the jury he was the one who was attacked.

"I walked up the edge of my counter and Audrey just spins around, she pulls a knife out the butcher block about this big," Hanney said.

Hanney said a masked man was also at the house that day. He testified that the man held a gun to his head while Mabrey held a candle and a bottle of gasoline.

He said he kicked Mabrey to escape and that she dropped the candle and gasoline and was set ablaze.

When it was all said and done, the jury sided with Mabrey.

She quietly wept as the jury confirmed their decision.

But before she left the courthouse she delivered a message to any woman who may find themselves in an abusive relationship.

"Get help. Be smart, and get help," Mabrey said.
