Jersey Village Man Billy Walker Barrett Accused of Drugging, Raping Teen
HOUSTON - A 43-year-old Jersey Village man faces a felony sex assault charge after a teenager says he drugged her and then had sex with her.
According to a probable cause court document, Billy Walker Barrett faces a felony charge of sexual assault of a child under 19 years of age.
Jersey Village Police officers arrested him Wednesday afteoon, according to a Jersey Village PD representative.
A deputy with the Harris County Sheriffs Office interviewed the 14-year-old victim, who told authorities it was late May when Barrett took her to his house so he could pick up some personal belongings. Court documents go on to state the suspect then offered the teen a soda. She drank it and stated that after a few minutes, she could no longer stay awake.
The teen said she later awoke to a nude Barrett on top of her, assaulting her. She said most of her clothes were removed as well.
The victim’s mother was told of the attack three days later, according to authorities, and the victim was promptly interviewed.
Court documents filed Tuesday did not specify whether or not any evidence was collected, only saying that the teen knew the difference between telling the truth and a lie.
The suspect was identified as Barrett, a family friend.
Bail has been set at $20,000.
