Iowa Man Troy Wanninger arrested in fatal hit-and-run
An Adel man was arrested Friday in connection with a hit-and-run accident that killed a bicyclist, according to the Dallas County sheriff’s office.
Troy Wanninger, 31, of Adel is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in the death of another, failure to have a valid license, failure to have vehicle insurance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphealia, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Chad Leonard said an “extensive investigation” preceded the arrest. Wanninger was released from jail Friday pending trial.
Edward Giedraitis, 67, of Dallas Center was killed in May after he was struck by a car while riding his bike down 270th Street.
Online court records show Wanninger has been convicted of multiple traffic offenses over the years, including drunken driving and speeding.
