PLAINFIELD, Ind. -- A man was arrested late Friday night after leading officers from several departments on a chase.

Danville police said Michael Bombard, 48, had been arrested twice in two weeks on a charge of violating a restraining order that had been filed by his ex-wife.

Bombard had been in court earlier in the week to answer to those charges.

Police said that when Bombard found out he might be taken into custody, he made an excuse to go out to his car and fled from the courthouse.

A police search that lasted two days ended near State Road 267 in Plainfield late Friday night.

Officers said Bombard crashed into a tree and then fled on foot. He was later found hiding between some homes and was arrested.

Investigators said that while he was hiding from authorities, Bombard made threatening Inteet posts, phone calls and texts to his ex-wife, who had sought help from a domestic violence shelter.

Cell phone pings were used to help track Bombard to a train crossing. Police said he nearly struck an officer while trying to elude capture.
