How embarrassing – Police car gets swallowed by giant sinkhole

A police officer found himself and his 4×4 police vehicle at the bottom of a sinkhole while driving along the street. Not exactly the best start to his Friday moing.

The emergency responder at the police station can’t have believed his at first until the pictures started coming in.

Sgt. Greg Miller of the Sheridan Police Department in Denver, Colorado, experienced this odd phenomenon this moing.

Luckily he escaped with only cuts and bruises telling 7NEWS: ‘I realise I’m in a sinkhole, all I see is dirt around me.

He added: ‘When it happened and I realised I was in the hole, I just basically had to crawl through the window.

‘Grabbed hold of the rail on the top of the roof, then pulled myself on top of the roof.

‘Then I jumped up and grabbed on the top of the pavement and pulled myself out.’

The police vehicle has continued to sink further and further underground.

If only it was the criminals that fell into sinkholes not the cops.
