A 29-year-old mother was discovered murdered along with her two young daughters in a closet of their home outside the Miami suburb of Flagami Tuesday, according to police..

A neighbor found the bodies of the woman identified by friends as Gladys Machado and her children, eight-year-old Julia Padrino and four-year-old Daniela Padrino.

According to Detective Roy Rutland, at around 2.30pm, the neighbor smelled a foul odor wafting from the residence on the 7300 block of Northwest 4th Street and went to investigate.

After searching the premises, the neighbor made the gruesome discovery inside one of the closets.

The cause of death has not been released by police, who classified the incident as murder.

A female friend of Machado's said that last Friday, the two made plans for the weekend, but the 29-year-old woman later told her she couldn't go out. Machado was never heard from again.   

According to the Miami Herald, Machado lived with her boyfriend who was recently released from jail.

'They were nice people overall,' neighbor Kristofer Delgado told CBS Miami. 'It troubles us to see this now because we couldn't expect anything to happen to them like this.'

Police say they are looking for a particular person of interest in connection with the slayings, but they have not released the suspect's name or description.

On Tuesday, friends and relatives, including the father of Machado's three children, Michael Padrino, gathered outside the house where the young woman was killed, according to the Herald.

The man told the paper that Machado’s third child, six-year-old Michael, was safe with his grandmother. The boy was not present during the murders.  

Machado worked as an administrative assistant for the Beauty Schools of America and had attended Keiser University, according to her Facebook page.

Olga Cecilia Espinoza, whose children attended the same school as Machado’s kids, described the 29-year-old as a good mother who was chatty and friendly.

Espinoza said she last tried to reach Machado at around 10pm Friday, but received no response.

Several hours later, the 29-year-old woman posted an odd message on Facebook saying: ‘Where this road goes no one knows.’
