In a “typical Florida” story, a ripe mango sitting in the middle of the road lead to shots being fired at a vehicle in Lee County.

A man and woman were out celebrating their wedding anniversary when they spotted the fruit in the middle of the street.

The man stopped his truck and approached the fruit when nearby home owner, 64-year-old Josefina Tometich of Fort Myers, began yelling at the man and threatened to shoot him if he touched the mango.

At the threat, the 49-year-old man retued to his truck and drove off, fruit-less, stated the Lee County’s Sheriff’s Office.

But when the couple stopped at a nearby intersection down the road, the truck’s back window shattered and Tometich was seen walking behind the vehicle with a firearm that looked like a rifle.

The couple called 911 and deputies later found a pellet gun inside of Tometich’s home.

She was arrested and later released a few hours later on a $7,500 bond.
