Florida teen Olivia Grimes falls to her death at Christian summer camp
A teenager from Lakeland, Fla., fell to her death Monday from a tall rope swing at a Christian summer camp in South Carolina, New York Daily News reports.
Olivia Grimes,16, reportedly lost grip of the haess and “fell more than 100 feet,” according to the New York Daily News.
Carolina Point Camp, located near the North Carolina border, contains numerous zip lines and ropes courses that are owned and operated by the Young Life organization. The rope swing Grimes fell from sends three people at a time zipping across to nearby tree tops.
“We do not know how this occurred. At the moment our focus is on those grieving over this tragic accident,” said a statement released by the camp.
All rides were shut down after Grimes’ death so Young Life could inspect its equipment. Carolina Point and Young life “are cooperating with law enforcement,” New York Daily News reports.
