Father of slain journalist speaks out, takes aim at gun laws in emotional interview

The father of slain WDBJ reporter Alison Parker spoke out about his daughter's death and took aim at gun laws in an emotional interview Wednesday night with Fox News' Megyn Kelly.

Andy Parker and Alison's boyfriend, WDBJ anchor Chris Hurst, appeared on "The Kelly File" to discuss their loved one's life following the fatal shooting of Parker, a WDBJ reporter, and Adam Ward, a WDBJ cameraman, during a live broadcast Wednesday moing. Gunman Vester Flanagan, a former on-air personality for WDBJ who was fired, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound hours after the incident, according to The Associated Press.

Andy Parker said his 24-year-old daughter lived a happy life.

"That's the toughest thing for me," Andy Parker said. "Everybody that she touched loved her, and she loved everybody back."

Hurst added: "We would always be conceed, texting each other when we got to work safely. And she texted me, 'Good night, sweet boy,' and that was the last that I had ever heard from her."

Andy Parker also vowed "to do something about crazy people getting guns."

"I'm going to do something, whatever it takes, to get gun legislation – to shame people, to shame legislators into doing something about closing loopholes and background checks and making sure crazy people don't get guns," he said.

"This is not the last you've heard of me. This is something that is Alison's legacy that I want to make happen."
