Dramatic video: Officer breaks window, saves 25-year-old woman passed out on freeway
A Califoia Highway Patrol officer rescued an allegedly intoxicated driver who appeared to be passed out in the driver’s seat while on a busy freeway, according to KGTV.
The woman was stopped in the middle of the freeway with cars speeding by early Friday when a passerby ran to the vehicle and tried to awaken her.
Video obtained by the TV station showed the man tapping on the window and yelling, “Wake up,” but the woman remained unresponsive.
Shortly later, Califoia Highway Patrol Officer Sergio Flores arrived at the scene and tried to get her attention by tapping on the driver-side window with his flashlight, according to KGTV.
The car suddenly started rolling on the freeway. The officer then ran around to the passenger side and then smashed the window with his flashlight.
“Stop your car, you’re going to crash,” he can be heard yelling in the video.
The officer was finally able to throw open the door and put the car into park just as the woman appeared to awaken.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Amber Dlaine McKinney Morgan, was then moved to a safe location off the roadway before being arrested on suspicion of DUI, KGTV reported.
