A TELEVISION producer who has changed his gender three times has now more time on his hands to know who she or he is.

Dawn Stacey Ennis, an experienced news producer at ABC News in the US, was employed as Don Ennis. He has changed his gender back and forth and was sacked in May for “performance-related” issues — weeks after tuing up at work as Dawn Stacey Ennis for a second time, the New York Daily News reported.

The sacking of Ennis, a joualist from Danbury, Connecticut, was not connected to his gender changing, an industry source said.

Ennis’ gender change became public knowledge in May last year when he arrived at work in a little black dress and a wig and asked to be known as Dawn.

Ennis, a then married father of three, claimed at the time to have had an “unusual hormone imbalance” and felt more comfortable living as a woman.

“Please understand,” he said in a statement, “this is not a game of dress-up, or make-believe, it is my affirmation of who I now am and what I must do to be happy, in response to a soul-crushing secret that my wife and I have been dealing with for more than seven years, mostly in secret.”

He then changed his Facebook picture, replacing the one of himself as male to female, and tried to address any confusion he may have caused among friends and family.

“Ever go through something intensely personal and scary and find it’s easier to talk about with the stranger sitting next to you on the plane, than the friends you fear will judge you, or worse: reject you? If by not confiding in you, and by telling others, you feel I’ve lied to you, I’m sorry,” he posted.

Shortly after tuing up to work as Dawn, Ennis and his wife, Wendy, of 17 years separated.

Three months later Dawn Stacey Ennis arrived at work as Don again. He said that he had amnesia, claiming his wife dressed him in a wig and created a fake ID card bearing the name “Dawn”

“I am now totally, completely, unabashedly male in my mind, despite my physical attributes,” he said in an email to colleagues.
Ennis said that while his memories of the past 14 years had retued, his female identity did not.

But then Don became Dawn Stacey Ennis again when he arrived at work in May.

Ennis has yet to speak about her dismissal — her Facebook page has been removed — and ABC News officials declined to comment.
