Detroit: Teacher Robert Hatchett Accused Of Possessing Heroin
DETROIT -- A Detroit Public Schools teacher is facing drug charges after Michigan State Police said they found him in possession of heroin.
Robert Hatchett Jr., a teacher at the Paul Robeson Academy, was charged after troopers found the narcotic during a traffic stop on Jan. 26 along Interstate 94 in Calhoun County's Marengo Township. They said they also found $22,520 in cash.
The 40-year-old is charged with possession with intent to deliver narcotics.
A preliminary examination in Calhoun County District Court was adjoued Wednesday. Hatchett is free on bond.
Hatchett is a boys' basketball coach at Central High School.
He has been placed on administrative leave.
