Coach of girls high school soccer team Rebecca Noonan, 31, charged with having sex with a 13-year-old boy in his bedroom
The head coach of a girls high school soccer team has been charged with having sex with a 13-year-old boy in his bedroom.
Rebecca Lee Noonan, 31, who has been a coach at Champlin Park High School in Minnesota for eight years, allegedly told the boy to keep the encounter secret, saying she could go to prison.
She appeared in court Tuesday on charges of third-degree and fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct and was released on $50,000 bail.
Noonan was at the boy's home in August or September last year when she allegedly climbed into his bed naked and had intercourse with him while his mother was away, according to court documents.
Her attoey, Kirk Anderson, said Noonan had known the boy's mother for a 'long time' and was a 'friend of the family'.
The mother told police she recalled leaving Noonan alone with the boy at the family’s home in Ramsey.
The boy told his siblings what happened and asked them not to tell anyone, according to the criminal complaint.
Noonan joined the Champlin soccer program in 2007 as an assistant coach and became head coach in 2012.
She had no other duties at the high school or in the district, said Jim Skelly, spokesman for Anoka-Hennepin schools.

She had been a soccer coach at Champlin Park High School (pictured) in Minnesota for eight years
Her future as a coach is now under review as the district conducts its own investigation, the spokesman added.
She also ran a summer soccer camp on the high school grounds, but Mr Skelly said other coaches will take over the camp.
Noonan played soccer for Robbinsdale Cooper in high school and Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, where she studied exercise and sport science.
Her attoey declined to address the allegations, saying he had to lea more about the criminal complaint.
