Clerk fired for helping wrongfully accused man would do it all again
Sharon Snyder was fired from her job as a court clerk in Kansas City, Mo., after 34 years in June. Her crime? Giving Robert Nelson a public document that showed him how to seek a DNA test, which eventually got him released from prison 30 years after his wrongful rape conviction. (She provided Nelson's sister with a motion seeking DNA evidence in a different case. Nelson used the motion as a model for his own.)
In an interview with MSNBC Wednesday, she said, "Oh yes, I would do it again," and that she was "so happy" Nelson was exonerated. Snyder, a 70-year-old great-grandmother, said she felt she was being "severely punished" and forced to retire early for her transgression. [Source]
