Children orphaned as dad is shot dead only a week after mum died in cave collapse

Four children whose mother died after an ice cave collapsed have now become orphans – after their father was shot to death.

The two sons and two daughters of Anna Santana were left devastated when their mother died on July 9 – after an ice cave popular with tourists collapsed while she was inside.

But the children, aged, one, eight, 12 and 14, have now become orphaned, after their father was shot dead following an altercation in San Beardino, Califoia.

Adrian Martinez Cardona, 35, was reportedly shot on Sunday evening after he was asked to leave a local bar.

His death came less than a week after police pulled the body of Ms Sanata from beneath mounds of ice and snow – and a coroner declared that she had died from blunt-force injuries to her head and body.

Paying tribute to Ms Santa, cousin Damian Camacho previously wrote: ‘My cousin Annalisa Santana was a beautiful person both inside and out, loved life, and lived life!

‘You could see her big beautiful smile from a thousand feet away and it was contagious. … I will miss hearing you laugh cousin and I love you!’

The children are now believed to be in the care of their extended family
