Chicago TV Anchorman Dave Benton, 51, tells viewers that he has six months to live
A LONG-SERVING TV anchorman in the US who is fighting brain cancer has told viewers he only has between four to six months to live.
Dave Benton, 51, who has anchored the news at WCIA-TV in Chicago, Illinois for the past nine years, made the revelation on Thursday night’s broadcast alongside co-anchor Jennifer Roscoe.
He said he had been told by doctors that his brain tumour is too large for surgery or radiation.
Benton said he’ll try a new treatment to slow the tumour’s growth, but that his goal is to add “a few more days and make them the best they can be.”

The father of two adult sons says he will work on-air for as long as he possibly can. Benton, a bo-again Christian, says he is putting his faith in God to help him get through this period but told viewers “I am at peace.”
Benton had previously updated his fans of his cancer treatment earlier in the year via Twitter, but after completing radiation treatment in February, the cancer came back.
