Arizona: Wild Oats Founder Michael Gilliland Accused Of Child Prostitution
Michael Gilliland

PHOENIX -- The man who founded the Wild Oats and Sunflower supermarket chains has been arrested in a felony child prostitution case, Phoenix police said Saturday.

Michael Gilliland, 52, was arrested at a Phoenix hotel midday Thursday, accused of trying to rendezvous with an underage girl he met online, Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos said Saturday. He was booked on suspicion of felony child prostitution.

Martos would not confirm a news report that the arrest was a sting operation where an officer posed as an underage girl online. He said investigators did not want to discuss police tactics and would only call it an "ongoing investigation."
