16-year-old driver Nick Watson killed in Avon crash
AVON - A 16-year-old died in a one-car wreck Wednesday night in Avon.
The Patriot Ledger reports the accident happened at 8:16 p.m. at D.W. Field Park on the east side of the reservoir when a 1993 BMW 325 driven by Nick Watson left the road and went down an embankment.
The driver's side door was crushed against a rock and it took about 45 minutes to free Watson. The 16-year-old passenger will be OK, according to police.
According to the Patriot Ledger, Watson was a baseball player who battled lymphoma.
Watson, who tued 16 on May 22, did not yet have a driver’s license.
The accident remains under investigation.
