Wyoming man Barry Strang dies 3 miles into dream motorbike ride
AFTER 40 years of begging his wife to let him buy a Harley Davidson, Barry Strang succeeded. Tragically however his first ride would also be his last.
The Wyoming man, 59, would visit the Harley Davidson store every single week for 38 years, and each week he would ask his wife Pam if he could get one. She always said no because she believed that they were too dangerous.
Then after heading into semi-retirement last month he decided it was time to get one regardless of what his wife thought.
The Star Tribune reports that Pam and Barry travelled to the Harley Davidson dealership together but that Pam had to follow up on a quilt she had ordered and the pair decided to meet up later.
He immediately took a photo of his new bike and posted it to Facebook. The caption read "44 years finally got one."
But just 3 miles into his first ride he collided with a truck tractor, was ejected off the bike and propelled under the vehicle. He died instantly.
Pam said she had a sinking feeling by the time she got to the quilt store.
"Next thing I know I'm hearing sirens," she said. "And I knew it was him. I could feel it."
Pam says she is not angry or resentful.
“It was something he wanted his whole life,” she said. “It’s like my son said, ‘Dad went out with the biggest smile on his face.’”
