Wife Pamela Sevey Killed Husband Before Taking Her Own Life

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- An Iraqi war vet was slain less than 30 minutes after his estranged wife posted a Facebook status update saying she caught her husband in bed with another woman.

A family friend said Pamela Sevey, 44, and Aaron Sevey, 44, married about five years ago and separated about two years ago, KRDO TV reported Monday night.

The Facebook post was made Saturday at 3:10 p.m. under Sevey's maiden name. It said she had "just walked in on my husband in bed with another woman. Real nice.

Police were called at 3:37 p.m., and found the bodies of the two inside the home at 829 Skyway Blvd. Police did not say who made the call.

El Paso County assessor's records show the house is owned by the couple.

Police confirmed names of the dead Monday evening. Autopsy reports state Aaron Sevey died of multiple gunshot wounds and that Pamela Sevey died of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to her head.

Aaron Sevey was a member of the Colorado National Guard and was deployed to Iraq where he received a Bronze Star. He had a son in the Navy.

Pamela Sevey had twin 16-year-old daughters from an earlier marriage who attend Cheyenne Mountain High School, the Gazette reported. A family friend told the Gazette the couple never finalized a divorce so that Pamela and her daughters could remain on Aaron's health insurance plan.

Aaron Sevey's slaying was the first homicide of 2011 reported in Colorado Springs.
