Who is Ahmad Khan Rahami, sought in connection with NY, NJ bombings?
Police say 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami is being sought in connection with the Chelsea bombing in New York City over the weekend.
New Jersey State police said Monday moing that Rahami is also wanted in connection with an explosion Saturday moing in Seaside Park, New Jersey.
Here's what we know so far:
1. Rahami is a "naturalized citizen from Afghanistan," the AP reported. FBI officials said Rahami last listed a home address in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where five pipe bombs were discovered near a train station oveight.
2. Investigators have only officially linked Rahami to the Chelsea and Seaside Park explosions. Speaking on the condition of anonimity, authorities told WCBS that Rahami may also be a person of interest connected to an "unexploded pressure cooker device" found near the site of Chelsea explosion and the Elizabeth train station bombs.
3. Rahami was not listed in U.S. counterterrorism databases, according to Reuters. The wire service cited unnamed govement officials.
4. Rahami may be armed and dangerous, Mayor Bill de Blasio said. "We need to get this guy in right away," he told CNN. "My experience is once the FBI zeroes in on someone, they will get them."
5. Authorities believe Rahami was seen in surveillance video captured Saturday night in Chelsea. New Jersey State Police released additional images of Rahami on Monday moing, including two that appeared to be taken from suveillance footage.
Authorities described Rahami as 5-foot-6 and approximately 200 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and black facial hair. He is believed to be operating a blue 2003 Honda Civic with New Jersey license plate No. D63EYB.
6. Police and federal agents reportedly raided a New Jersey home searching for the suspect.
