Whistleblower behind NSA leaks comes forward as Edward Snowden

A 29-year-old man has come forward as the whistleblower who revealed the massive US surveillance programs of phones and inteet, saying "I've done nothing wrong."

The man responsible for one of the biggest leaks in US history is Edward Snowden, a 29-year old former technical assistant for the CIA, the Guardian reports.

Mr Snowden’s identity was revealed at his own request, the newspaper says. He is the source behind revelations that the US govement records millions of details about phone calls of citizens, and gathers information from tech firms such as Google, Facebook and Apple.

“I have no intention of hiding who I am because I know I have done nothing wrong”, he said.
