We wonder why this Oklahoma magazine cover is causing controversy
ARDMORE, Okla. —
An Oklahoma magazine cover is causing controversy.
Inside Friday's Daily Ardmoreite, this season's Southe Oklahoma Living magazine cover featured a baby in a costume that was supposed to resemble the Tin Man from "The Wizard of Oz."
Many, however, say the costume resembles something else entirely.
"It looks like one of the Klansmen baby outfits," said Mayor Kyle Lawson of Gene Autry.
A number of people are asking the magazine publisher to apologize for the Southe Oklahoma Living cover.
On Sunday, the publisher wrote an op-ed, saying, in part, "If you were offended by the photo, I'm sorry you didn't see what I saw: a child dressed as an iconic character from one of the most beloved films of the 20th Century."
