University of Maryland Student Justin Desha-Overcash Shot, Killed
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - A University of Maryland student shot and killed Tuesday has been identified by Prince George's County Police as Justin Vance Desha-Overcash.
The 22-year-old was killed at an off-campus home he was living at on 38th Avenue in Adelphi, Md. His death marked the 11th homicide in Prince George's County this year.
Police say a man in a black ski mask was seen fleeing the scene on foot.
Investigators believe that shooting may be drug related. Police say they seized from the home a quantity of marijuana sufficient to indicate an intent to distribute. They also found a digital scale and drug packaging materials.
Statement from Desha-Overcash's Mother:
"Our family greatly appreciates the outpouring of love for our loss of Justin and conce for our family. We are challenging PG County Police because they are not going to kill our son twice. Please support Justin's memory through e-mail, phone calls, text messages, any way you see fit to honor Justin's memory.... Thank you. Justin chose his friends well."
