Ultimate game show gaffe: Couple lose $800,000 on Million Dollar Drop despite giving the CORRECT answer
A young couple lost $800,000 on the quiz show Million Dollar Drop after they answered a question correctly - only to be told told they were wrong.
Contestants Gabe Okoye and Brittany Mayi, had differing opinions on the answer when asked the question: 'Which of these were sold in stores first: Mackintosh computer, Sony Walkman or Post-It Notes?'
They eventually settled for placing $800,000 on Post-It Notes, with a back-up $80,000 on Sony Walkman, although Gabe told host Kevin Pollak he was sure of his answer.
However, the chute opened and consumed the larger wedge, leaving inconsolable Gabe crouching in a coer unable to go on with the game.

Brittany coaxed him back to proceed with the remaining $80,000, but they eventually lost that too.
However, it transpires that the answer was in fact correct all along.
Inteet forums claimed the quiz show got the answer wrong, and that the couple should have kept their money.
On the Gawker website, blogger Richard Lawson wrote: 'Apparently Post-It Notes didn't go on sale nationally until 1980, but were market tested in four cities starting in 1977.
'So that means they beat the Walkman, which debuted in 1979.
'The question was not posed as "sold in stores nationally," it was simply "sold in stores."
'Now, while the couple's reasoning wasn't exactly sound while making their decision, they did sorta blunder into the right answer.
'Will Fox correct their mistake?
'Probably not. But, the couple should at least know they were right, so that poor man doesn't feel guilty for the rest of his life?'
