Two burglars in Los Angeles ask a homeowner to tie them up in world's stupidest getaway plan

TWO burglars caught in the act had the not-so-bright idea of making the homeowner tie them up so they could pretend to arriving police they were victims.

Unsurprisingly, they fooled no-one.

“That’s what you call felony stupid,” Officer Norma Eisenman told the LA Times after the incident in the Lincoln Heights neighbourhood of Los Angeles.

According to the paper a total of four suspects entered the house armed with shotguns and handguns. The female occupant, who was home alone, saw the men on a home surveillance system and called police.

As police and SWAT units swooped on the scene two suspects fled. The other two suspects then allegedly asked the occupant to tie them up, telling her she should tell police they were also victims.

Ignoring their suggestion the woman ran outside to tell waiting cops what was going on.

Police stayed outside until eventually - Officer Eisenman told the Times - the two dim-witted suspects “got tired of waiting” and emerged.

All four suspects have since been arrested, the paper said.
