Having an overgrown lawn landed this homeowner in jail.

Karen Holloway served six hours behind bars despite her protestations after contravening rules in East Tennessee.

In June officials in Lenoir City had decided her yard was too untidy and needed to have been mowed, according to WVLT-TV.

Unsurprisingly she was not happy with the decision and said: ‘It’s not right, why would you put me in jail with child molesters and people who have done real crimes because I haven’t maintained my yard up to the city’s standards?’

She argued her busy life had meant she was unable to keep up her duties and this shouldn’t have caused her to be treated like a criminal.

The mother-of-two added: ‘With my husband going to school and working full time, me with my job, with one vehicle, we were trying our best.’

Holloway was lucky to only receive six hours in jail as the judge had originally planned to keep her inside for five days before changing his mind.
