Storm-chaser confirms lightning vs. lottery odds
Anyone scoffing at the well-circulated statistic that they were 50 times more likely to be struck by lightning than win Friday's Mega Millions lottery needs to have a conversation with Bill Isles.
The Wichita, Kan., volunteer storm spotter was knocked off his feet by a nearby lightning strike only hours after buying three tickets for the Mega Millions jackpot and ominously joking about his chances: "I've got a better chance of getting struck by lightning."
Luckily, Isles avoided topic of being hit by falling airplane parts, which was 17 times more likely than winning Friday's lottery.
Does this mean his chances for winning the lottery just got better?
